Our Factory

Seven years ago, the board of Basson Workwear jokingly told each other that one day they would open their own factory. In September 2020, that dream — which once felt impossible — became a reality. They held on to a vision the Lord placed in their hearts, and in the very heart of Wellington, Basson Workwear opened its own factory.

This journey reminds us of Proverbs 18:21, revealing again the power that lies in the words we speak. Today, that spoken faith stands as a living testimony.

The factory produces workwear exclusively under the label ZION.

In Acts 2, we read how 3 000 people were converted and baptized on Mount Zion after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The significance for us is profound: when you return to God, His goodness and favour rest upon you. That is why the name ZION was chosen.

Even the logo carries meaning — notice the cross shaped into the mountain. “You are protected” refers not only to protective workwear, but also to the divine protection spoken of in Psalm 91.

Basson Factory currently employs 35 staff members. At its core, the factory exists to create job opportunities for disadvantaged individuals in Wellington, uplifting the community and restoring hope to families.

Every morning begins with Scripture reading and prayer. The impact of this daily practice on the team’s atmosphere, peace, and personal lives is both powerful and worth celebrating.

From the first day, the Lord’s blessing rested upon the factory, allowing it to grow from strength to strength. We look forward with expectation to what the future still holds.

The name ZION was also inspired by the beautiful mountains surrounding Wellington.

In Exodus 32, we learn of another mountain moment — when Moses returned from Mount Sinai to find the people worshiping a golden calf. That day, 3 000 people perished because they had turned their backs on God. The contrast between Sinai and Zion reminds us: when people choose God, life flows. When they turn away, destruction follows.

ZION stands as a symbol of choosing God — His protection, His blessing, and His promises over our business, our people, and our community.
